 Nau mai, haere mai ki te marae o Puawairua a te 26-28Noema 2010, mo te wananga e pa ana ki nga waiata tawhito o nga matua tipuna. This notice is to inform all our people of Ngai Te Rangihouhiri and Ngati Hikakino and our whanau of Taiwhakaea II and Te Tawera that our next wananga waiata tawhito will be held at Puawairua Marae on 26-28 November 2010. 

The fourth wananga in this series was enjoyed by the 30 attendees with several whanau again attending from Auckland, Palmerston North, Tauranga and Rotorua.  The programme included a hikoi to the traditional rohe of Te Rangihouhiri II, Hikakino with the highlight being a hikoi on the Rotoehu Trust lands for the first time for many.  That was followed by the first general meeting of beneficiaries to that trust at Iramoko Marae.

All are welcome to attend the wananga to learn the historical waiata of our ancestors. Depending on the weather the wananga will include a hikoi to the Hura Kohatu of Hawea Vercoe at Puketapu urupa, the ancestral lands including Umuhika, Pokerekere and a possible visit to tarawera river to retrive a mauri stone for Mataatua wharenui. It is also intended that the wananga will attend the annual general meeting of Te Runanga o Ngati Awa at Kokohinau Marae on Sunday 28 Novemebr 2010 at 10.00am. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCORDING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FUNDER YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR PASSPORT OR BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR REGISTRATION PURPOSES.  DRIVER LICENCES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
