The trustees are pleased to announce that the Lotteries Marae Heritage Fund has granted $429,000+ GST for the marae building project. This is the second largest amount of funding that has been received since the re-establishment of the marae in 1998. The trustees are to meet with the builders and negotiate the final terms of a building contract. A meeting for that purpose is to be held during the period 28 February to 3 March 2013. Following that it is intended that the building work for the marae complex will commence in March 2013 following a karakia at the site. The amount of funding that has been granted is not sufficient to meet the total costs of the build and fit-out so further applications for funding to Lotteries and related sources will be progressed over the coming weeks. Please join with the trustees in acknowleding this support from Lotteries which will be critical in assisting the hapu to finally realise the goal of a fully functioning marae complex. 14 February 2013 Stan Ratahi CHAIRMAN
