General Meeting of Beneficiaries

Was held at10.00am Sunday 1 May 2011.  The result of the meeting was the election of the marae committee as trustees.  Trustees had not been elected by the beneficiaries for many years and so the outcome was historic.  Layne Harvey made a brief presentation to the meeting concerning the background to the reservation being established and presented a list of Te Patutatahi members created by the hapu in 1905.  Manu Tarau was re-elected chairman of both the committee and the marae trustees. Jenny Wahapango and Mere Gabriel were re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.  Brian Simpson was elected as Ngai Taiwhakaea II nominee to Te Whare o Toroa Marae trustees and was also elected to the Taiwhakaea B Maori reservation trust.  Ramai Haua-Carroll was also elected and offered to assist with the preparation of a marae charter.  Other business discussed included preparations for the cennential celebrations for 12 January 2013 for the opening of the marae.
