This is the second largest amount of funding that has been received since the re-establishment of the marae in 1998. The trustees are to meet with the builders and negotiate the final terms of a building contract. A meeting for that purpose is to be held during the period 28 February to 3 March 2013. Following that it is intended that the building work for the marae complex will commence in March 2013 following a karakia at the site. The amount of funding that has been granted is not sufficient to meet the total costs of the build and fit-out so further applications for funding to Lotteries and related sources will be progressed over the coming weeks.
